Our founding, history, vision, and mission
Despite the fact that modern sports have been in Ethiopia for less than a century, since 1956, our country has had impressive performances in international and Olympic sports, with a few heroic characters in the field of athletics.
However, in recent years, especially in the Beijing Olympics, where only two athletes won gold medals, our country's achievements have been called into question by the government's focus on the sports sector, producing more and more substitute athletes in order to sustain athletics. Athlete Tirunesh Dibaba Athletics Training Center has been established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In October 2012, the center selected 250 athletes from all regions and city administrations in accordance with the recruitment criteria in three areas of athletics (running, throwing and jumping), as well as providing modern and scientific training to women and men in soccer since 2005 E.C. In addition to providing social and economic benefits by producing effective and substitute athletes at the international level, it has made and continues to do its part to make our country's image known on the world stage.
The center is working to contribute its share to the development of sports in our country by providing modern and scientific training to athletes in the fields of training.
